Services

Every step from a capture question to an operating plant.

Hovyu supports industrial emitters across the full journey of a carbon-capture project — from the first feasibility question to a plant that runs. Our service lines mirror that path: we stay current through research, model your process and its economics, design the plant, prove it on your real flue gas, and build it with our EPC partners. You can enter at any stage, and each step de-risks the next.

Our services are focused on two fields:

Across both fields, our services span the full journey — from research to an operating plant.

Most projects begin with something simple: a flue-gas composition, a site, and a question — can we capture this, at what rate, and what would it take? From there we help you find the answer with data, not assumptions.

01

Modelling & simulation

Rigorous process and cost models that turn your gas and site into decisions.

We model carbon-capture processes building a validated flowsheet from your flue-gas composition and site conditions. We then translate that model into a techno-economic analysis: energy demand, CAPEX and OPEX, and capture cost per tonne of CO₂. The result lets you compare solvents, capture rates and process configurations and understand the trade-offs before committing capital. The models have been validated against real operating data ensuring that it represents the process at scale.

What you get
  • A validated process model (mass and energy balances, flowsheet).
  • A techno-economic report: energy, CAPEX/OPEX and €/tCO₂.
  • Scenario and sensitivity comparisons (solvent, capture rate, configuration).
  • A defensible basis for scale-up and investment decisions.

Capture rates modelled across the 90–99%+ range; advanced solvents benchmarked against open-art references.

Process design

From a chosen concept to a build-ready process design, optimised for your site.

We turn the selected process into engineering. Working from your operating conditions and site constraints, we deliver conceptual and basic engineering: process flow diagrams, P&IDs, equipment sizing and plant layout, utility and integration requirements, and HAZOP support. The design is optimised for your real gas and the space you have — including tight, retrofit-into-a-live-site situations — and is structured to hand cleanly to FEED and construction partners.

What you get
  • PFD and P&ID package.
  • Equipment list, sizing and preliminary layout.
  • Utility, integration and tie-in requirements.
  • HAZOP support and a design basis ready for FEED/EPC.

Plants designed for high capture rates (e.g. ~98% design capture) and compact footprints suited to space-limited industrial and infrastructure sites.

03

Pilot testing

Test capture on your real flue gas, on your site — before you invest.

Piloting is the single most effective way to de-risk a capture investment, and it is where Hovyu is strongest. Using our fleet of containerised, mobile pilot plants in a range of sizes, we bring the process to your site and run it on your actual flue gas — with its real impurities and real variability. A campaign confirms the capture rates you can achieve, proves solvent performance and stability under real operational conditions, and produces the data to validate a scale-up model.

Just as importantly, it is a "know the process" opportunity: your team gets hands-on experience operating a capture plant — start-up, steady operation, response to upsets and host-plant stops — long before committing to full scale. Units mobilise fast (installed on site in days), and campaigns combine structured design-of-experiments with longer-duration runs.

What you get
  • A design-of-experiments test plan tailored to your gas and objectives.
  • On-site installation and operation of the pilot.
  • A test campaign report with achieved capture performance.
  • A solvent-stability assessment under your real conditions.
  • Operator familiarisation — your people learn the process hands-on.

Mobile containerised pilots; campaigns from a few weeks to several months; rent or purchase your unit.

FEED & EPC

From FEED study to a fully built, commissioned plant — with our EPC partners.

When you are ready to build, we take the design forward through established EPC partnerships — from a front-end engineering design (FEED) study to procurement, construction, commissioning and handover. You get a single, coordinated path from study to operating asset, with Hovyu safeguarding the process technology and performance throughout while our partners deliver execution at industrial standards.

What you get
  • A FEED package (definition, costing and schedule to investment-grade level).
  • Procurement specifications and vendor support.
  • Construction and commissioning through EPC partners.
  • Performance testing, handover and operating/maintenance guidance.

Turnkey delivery from engineering to commissioning following high quality standards.
